Those surreal moments in those early weeks, as you fall in love with your baby, are so special. Your family has just changed forever with the edition of a new wonderful little life. Having a newborn is the most life-changing, overwhelming event - an intense, 24/7 whirlwind! It's manic and magical all at the same time. The days and weeks really fly by (although the crying can sometimes seem endless) and before you know it your newborn is not a newborn anymore!

My sessions are all about capturing connections and love. I want to capture that growing love you have for your baby and the innate love your baby has for you, as well as all those beautiful tiny details that are only tiny for such a short, fleeting moment in time. The whole family is always included in my newborn sessions and if you have other children I will include images that capture their personality in the session too.

Save those precious moments while you can.

How it Works

My newborn photoshoots take place in the comfort of your own home, or in my cosy home studio in Nottingham.

For an in-home session, I will travel to you and photograph you in your natural environment - in your newborn bubble. I will capture moments of you and your family with your newborn, using your own home and belongings as backdrops, guiding you to relax into places that have the best lighting.

For a studio session, you'll travel to me and leave any mess or chaos at home. You'll join me in my cosy home studio and fully focus on just enjoying your baby. I keep my space lovely and warm and have everything we need to capture beautiful images of you with your baby. My decoration is very minimal, neutral and relaxing so your images will have a cosy and timeless aesthetic.

With both options, I will deliver you a beautiful online gallery within 4 weeks of your shoot date. Your gallery will contain roughly 50 images and there are two price options below (one for 10 images and one for the full gallery). The shoot will take 2 to 3 hours which allows us plenty of time for feeds and nappy changes. You will also have access to my client wardrobe which is a collection of beautiful postpartum-friendly pieces for mum and baby to borrow.

First, get in touch by answering a few questions on my enquiry form. Then, I will email or WhatsApp you so we can discuss and plan your session, I often suggest a phone or video call so we can have a good chat prior to booking :)

Next, we will get a date locked in for your shoot based on your due date (there will be flexibility to allow for early and late arrivals). If you have already had your baby then get in touch asap and I will try my best to fit you in soon! Once you have booked I will send you my beautiful photoshoot guide packed full of useful information to prepare for your shoot.

You can message me anytime to ask any questions about preparing for your session. I'll ask you to keep me in the loop with the arrival of your baby (so we can tweak your shoot date if necessary).

I am fully guided by your baby for my newborn sessions. Using baby-led posing means that most of the time your baby will be in your arms, right where they want to be. If they seem happy to do so we will place them down on their own so I can capture some different angles and close-ups of their tiny, unique features. If they don't want to lie on their own (most newborns prefer cuddles to being on their own) then I will capture all those gorgeous, teeny details whilst you are holding them.

We will involve any other children or pets in the shoot as much as we can and will be guided by them (adjusting to a new sibling can be emotional and overwhelming at times!).

Your gallery will read like a storybook and take you straight back to that moment when you were falling in love with your newborn baby. I am all about capturing the love and connection between you as well as catching those adorable newborn faces, yawns, and stretches on camera. Every session I photograph is led by you and your baby which makes it completely unique to you.

I’m a camera shy mum myself, and almost every parent I have ever photographed is worried about getting in front of the camera so I can assure you I am an expert at putting you at ease! My style is very informal and relaxed and I stand behind the camera with plenty of chat and laughter.

Us parents work so hard and have so much love for our families yet we have hardly any photographs of ourselves holding our children.

We take endless photographs of our children (I'm sure you have hundreds!) but forget how valuable we are to them, and that photographs with us in them are just as important in documenting their lives.

That's what I am out to change!

You deserve to have beautiful photographs of this magical (and mental) time in your life. This is your story too.

I want you to feel as comfortable as possible and being really open and honest with me if you have a particular body hang-up will really help me to understand how to help you relax and I can then also be conscious of what it is you worry about.

A note about skin - a lot of us worry about our skin from time to time, especially when it comes to close-up photos and a lack of sleep, parenthood, and crazy hormones don't help that! Well, I've got your back, I've become quite the pro at subtle, natural skin editing and I am always chasing flattering light that will make you look your best, so don't worry! And if you wake up in the morning with a giant pimple, don't worry either, that's a one click easy edit :)

I promise we will get wonderful photographs of you and when you receive your gallery you will see how special it is to have these photographs of your children with you in them.

'What should I wear?' is absolutely my number one frequently asked question and what you all wear does really affect the end result, mood and vibe of your images so here goes...

First and foremost I want you to feel comfortable and confident, so choose an outfit that makes you feel your best (and remember - perfection doesn't exist!).

My family sessions take place in the great outdoors so the first thing to consider is the time of year - we want your outfits to match the weather so no one gets too cold or too hot! Summer is obviously perfect for skirts and dresses and in Spring and Autumn you can still wear them, just team them with some cute boots, tights and jackets/knitwear. For cold winters get out the woolly hats, welly boots and warm fluffy jumpers to give a really warm, cosy feel (for you and the photographs!).

Colour & Fabric

Neutral colours like beige, brown, grey, navy and black create beautiful natural tones in your photographs and are wonderfully timeless. A little bit of colour contrast between each other’s outfits can work well rather than trying to get everyone to match perfectly, although if you want to match/co-ordinate then you could do that too! If you prefer something more colourful then earthy tones work really well e.g. orange/rust, sage, khaki etc. It can be a good idea to lay everyone's clothes out together to check that the colours you have chosen for each person look good next to each other. Detailed textures like crochet and lace, and fabrics with interesting textures like linen and corduroy look great in close-up shots. If you like prints, stick to something that isn't multicoloured or super bright and steer away from logos and graphics as these can be really distracting in your images.

Women

Loose and flowy dresses, tops and skirts are always a win as they are flattering on all body shapes, they are wonderful to photograph because of the movement in the fabric and they make you feel feminine and fantastic! Equally, if you feel confident in body-con then do it! Or, if you are more casual stick to jeans. I have some beautiful dresses and tops in my client wardrobe that you can borrow for the shoot if you'd like to - just ask (style guide and client wardrobe photographs coming soon...).

Men

A plain t-shirt or jumper, a casual shirt or a shirt unbuttoned and layered over a plain t-shirt worn with jeans, chinos or shorts is simple and looks great. It's nice to look a little smarter than your everyday wear for your photoshoot, but not wedding/event smart.

Babies and Children

Although children love unicorns and dinosaurs, picking something plain for your photoshoot gives a classic and timeless look. I love recommending H&M or Zara for finding neutral clothing options (if you enjoy second hand shopping then search on Vinted). Girls look beautiful in dresses and skirts and they especially love a flowy one that they can twirl in like a princess - but only once they are walking. Pre-walking baby girls are better in all in one outfits/rompers otherwise its very difficult to stop nappies from showing when they are sitting and crawling. Baby boys also look adorable in rompers or dungarees and older boys look handsome in a casual shirt or a plain t-shirt with an open, unbuttoned shirt layered over the top. If it is cold opt for cosy, fluffy knitwear over outfits.

Once you have figured out everyone's outfits I highly recommend hanging the clothes together the week before and then not wearing them again until the shoot - that way there will be no last minute panic washing, ironing or searching!

A quick note on nails - they will be in the photos! I like to take close-ups of tiny little hands as well as photographs of your hands holding your child/children. So remember to clean under nails (I know how easily dirt and grime seems to find itself under children's nails!) and stick to no nail varnish or a very plain neutral colour nail varnish for yourself.

Your Newborn Baby

Dress your newborn baby in something plain, without eye-catching prints, as we want all the attention to be on their natural features rather than their outfit. Even a plain onesie is fine! If you have a winter baby you could embrace the time of year by dressing both you and them in some cosy knitwear. Aim to start the shoot with them already dressed in their outfit and then have one back-up in case of a messy accident (from either end!). During the shoot, if they are happy to do so, we will undress them and wrap them in cosy blankets, so we can get some beautiful exposed skin photographs. I especially like to make sure I get close-ups of fingers and toes :) I have some plain newborn clothing in my client wardrobe in light, neutral colours that is always available to borrow on the day.

Siblings
