Our C-section Birth Story ❤️ Although it was a difficult decision, it was the best one. It was incredible having this calm, planned c-section experience after having an emergency one with our first born.

Being in control and having a safe, calm delivery was what we wanted and needed after the trauma of our first birth. A VBAC didn't turn out to be the right route for us and after the initial disappointment we accepted the c-section was the best choice.

We wanted to make the caesarean as calm as possible and as close to a vaginal birth as it could be. We asked to see the birth, for our baby to be passed straight to us the moment she was born, for all non-essential checks (weight etc.) to wait until after the surgery, for delayed cord clamping and for the theatre gown to be lifted for skin to skin, all whilst having our own music playing through the speakers. You can ask your hospital for all these things. As long as baby is well there is no need for any separation ❤️

If your c-section is an emergency there are more limited options because baby's safety obviously comes first, however, there are different categories of emergency and you might be able to have some of these preferences, so always ask ❤️

To anyone suffering from loss: I admire the strength and perseverance of every single one of you who has been on, or is still on, a dark and rocky road of infertility. I want to send you so much love and hope ❤️ I've only had a very small taste of heartbreak with one early loss and I cannot begin to imagine the pain and mental load of living with months, or years, of fertility struggles, miscarriages and rounds of IVF. You are incredible.

My miscarriage thankfully didn't require intervention or surgery. It was still incredibly upsetting and I got quite ill, and the sudden hormonal shift left me on a bit of a depressive rollercoaster. Although I recovered quickly it's definitely left a scar and has affected my mental state throughout this pregnancy. I hope that the following words will be reassuring for you if you are pregnant after a miscarriage, loss, or a long fertility journey ❤️

It's okay to be scared.

It's okay not to be excited. You're protecting yourself from the heartbreak of last time by distancing yourself.

It's okay to be terrified of seeing blood every time you go to the toilet, and fear of miscarriage every time you feel cramps.

It's okay not to take photos of your growing bump. Take photos when you feel ready, even if that isn't until your baby is in your arms.

It's okay if you can't be enthusiastic when you tell people your news, or when they see your bump and get excited for you.

It's okay to think the worst and to be incredibly nervous before every scan. Make sure a loved one is with you holding your hand.

It's okay to think positively one day and cry all day the next.

It's okay not to plan, talk about baby names, or to feel like nesting. If people are asking you about nursery decor or prams, it's okay to say that you aren't ready to think about that yet.

It's okay to talk about it. Once you open up about your feelings you won't believe how many people will tell you they've suffered too, and felt exactly the same way. It can really help to share experiences.

You are so much stronger than you know. Sending love, hope and good wishes ♥

In-home shoots take on the mood and vibe of your unique home and this shoot is a prime example of that. I walked into my client's home and was greeted by beautiful antique items and personal touches filling every corner. When I saw their gorgeous dark and moody living room I immediately knew this shoot was going to be atmospheric. My editing has played on that theme even more with deep shadows and contrast AND I LOVE IT. I really do like being adaptable to my different client's styles and reflecting this in their photos ❤️

My photoshoots are always baby-led and are based around asking you to enjoy admiring and cuddling your bub in beautiful flattering light. I'll capture images you are going to love, treasure and want to print & adorn your walls with. The most important thing to me throughout your photoshoot is always making sure you feel comfortable and relaxed and your baby is happy. This way I can capture all the beautiful natural moments that unfold and capture the kind of images that magically transport you back in time. They are so much more than photos. My family shoots take place in the great outdoors, where children are their happiest. They are free to roam, explore and let the wind blow through their hair. They can stick their hands in the dirt, look for bugs and make as much mess as they like.

All I ask is for you to trust me and relax into enjoying your family. And then the magic will happen.

This particular shoot was actually a mini-session. It was early and chilly, the wind was blowing and the drizzle was coming down, but, this family were amazing and completely embraced it! And the wild weather and early morning light makes for THE BEST photos. So if you're down for it, so am I ❤️

My outdoor mini-sessions run a few times a year and are extremely popular, for their price point and for the unique aspect of taking place outdoors (lots of mini sessions are studio sessions). They take place in Surrey, and soon Nottingham, and if I get the demand then I'll run them in other cities too (Plymouth next?!?) There's something you realise once you become a parent, you'll do the stupidest things, completely & utterly sober, and you won't even care. And it's one of the best bits about having a kid, acting like one again :)

This little dance party for two happened because I was desperately trying to keep my boy awake through the afternoon (we've dropped his last nap and he was almost falling asleep eating his dinner: at 3.30pm!) but it turned out to be the most fun ever and really lifted both our moods.

Pumping up the volume on tracks I can't help but dance like a crazy person to, has helped lift my spirits more than once throughout my motherhood journey. I HIGHLY recommend it! And you never know, your kid might turn out to have the most hilarious moves ever, case in point 😂

On another note, yes I'll bring energy to your photoshoot, but probably not this much 😂
